American art form:
“Making Stuff Up”
Improv is an art — the art of unscripted storytelling, spontaneous collaboration, and making your friends laugh until their faces hurt. It’s a blank canvas for your creativity and self-expression, and what emerges is often hilarious, sometimes profound, and always original.
Whether you’re a teen stepping into your first scene or an adult rediscovering your sense of play, improv teaches you to harness the power of your imagination. No scripts, no pressure; just laughter, connection, and creative discovery.

“Michelle's improv class felt like recess for grown ups. It was the highlight of my week and I really got out of my comfort zone!”

“Ms. Swaney was a fantastic improv coach. My child really enjoyed all she brought to the class. She spoke about her with incredibly high regard.”

“In the 25+ years I've done improv, few peers have inspired and challenged me as much as Michelle. I feel so lucky every time we're in a show together!”
Adrian Vazquez
Improv producer, performer & coach

Why improv?
It’s playtime for grownups.
Do you like laughing? Making others laugh? Meeting fun and creative people? Escaping the stress of your everyday routine for a couple of hours? Then improv is for you.
Sure, improv also teaches “useful” stuff like communication skills, mental flexibility, greater self-confidence, and overcoming fears and performance anxiety. But mostly improv will teach you to use laughter like a ninja assassin uses nunchucks—to entertain your friends and humiliate your enemies.

Players gotta play.
LIT classes always include an optional final performance for friends, family, and community.
